Pumpkin Pie
We started gardening today with Petra. We started with a vege puzzle. We had to feel for veges in a covered basket and guess what it was. Then we made a pumpkin pie. It was delicious!
We go to gardening every Wednesday in groups of 5 for 30 minutes each.
Here is the recipe:
Pumpkin Pie
1. Harvest the pumpkin
2. Cut in half and take out seeds
3. Lightly brush with oil and roast in oven until soft
4. Whisk 3 eggs
5. Mix with: 2 cups of pumpkin puree
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp mixed spice
1/2 tsp salt
6. Line pie dish with short pastry
7. Spread pumpkin mixture on top
8. Bake at 180 degrees for about 45 minutes
Enjoy!

Science
Term 3 has arrived with a BANG! We began Science on Wednesday with Mr Science (Sterling) and he started with making some loud noises. We then experimented with dry ice which was great fun.
We learned that things in the world are either solid, liquid or gas.

COSMODOME
Today we went to the cosmodome. It is a big blow-up igloo that showed us the stars and planets and galaxies. It was very exciting. Here are some of the things we learned or liked about it.
Aaron: I liked when Ron taught us about the stars and the sun.
Ayden: Mercury is the closest planet to the sun.
Bailey: I liked the stars that turned into pictures.
Caroline: I liked the sun. It doesn't move - we do!
Chloe: I liked looking and seeing the planets and stars.
Corey: In Jupiter you can actually go through the planet.
Dakota-Rose: I learned that Saturn's rings are made of little rocks.
Ella: I learned that Mercury is very hot. One planet is only made of dust and if you hop on it you will go right through.
Emily: I learned that if you go on Jupiter you will fall right through.
Finn: I liked going inside and looking at the planets close up.
Grace F: I didn't know that we would just fall through Jupiter.
Harriet: I liked how Ron showed us the planets and took us for a ride through space.
Hayley: I liked the stars. The sun was scary because it is so hot.
Izzy: I liked the planet Saturn with the rings. It looks like you could walk on them.
James: I liked the dark inside because I could see straight away.
Katie: I liked it when we saw the stars and the pictures they made.
Mateo: I liked the feeling when it seemed like we were traveling through space.
Michael: I liked the scorpion that was made out of the stars.
Ruby C: I liked it when it was dark and the stars came out.
Ruby F: I liked it when it felt like we were moving through space.
Seth: I learned about how the Earth moved slowly around the sun. It takes one year.
Tara: I liked learning that if you jump into Jupiter you go right through.
Tiana: I liked how the sun was bright orange and yellow.

Transit of Venus
On Wednesday our whole school hoped to watch the Transit of Venus. Unfortunately is was very windy and raining. Although we couldn't watch the transit we joined with Room 7 and did space things for the day.
We started by decorating folders to put all our work in. We found a great song about the planets on Youtube. We had a fun day learning about our solar system and writing about aliens.

CROSS COUNTRY
In the cross country I tried my best. I came 7th. I ran the whole way. I made it to the finish.
By Corey
Yesterday it was cross country and I ran as fast as I could. I came 5th. I was puffed, puffed, puffed! and I ran, ran, ran! My sister, Grace, said, "Go! Go! Go!" to me. My big buddy said to me, "Did you come 5th?" I said, "Yes."
By Emily
The cross country was fun and I passes some people. I came 7th and my pigtails flipped everywhere. When I went very fast and I finished I was puffed. My brother and my Mum came and they cheered for me. On the top of the hill I went medium running.

School Assembly
Last Friday we took the school assembly. We all spoke our parts clearly. We shared a slide show of us making our ladybird houses. As it was Sign Language week we signed the National Anthem and Kiwi Kids. We also did a class name rap. Carol was very proud of us!
